Triton Close Combat and Self Defense

This is a brief outline of the requirements to achieve this promotion. A more detailed curriculum is available at our school.

Blue belt is an important step in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. You must have a well rounded game meaning being able to escape positions, maintain positions, pass the guard, defend against passes using guard, be able to utilize submissions from the positions, and have several takedowns. Although typically the Blue belt has preferred positions and their preferred game, these requirements are set to prevent any imbalances that may otherwise occur.

It is imperative that the Blue belt be able to defend against submissions and against a larger unskilled opponent. A minimum of 250 training hours is required or 1 year of training. Previous training experience also counts

* Hours and time only represent eligibility. Rank is a privilege not a right.

* Test is based on curriculum sheet.

* All testing to be done at either the semi-annual Renato Tavares Seminars or by private appointment.
